Microneedling, also known as Mesotherapy, is an effective treatment that is mainly used for skin improvement (anti-aging). “Meso” means mid-dermal, and indicates in which part of the skin this treatment is applied.
Microneedling focuses mainly on collagen processes. As the skin ages, the body produces less collagen. The skin starts to loosen and wrinkles appear. The Microneedling treatment encourages the body to close the channels created with collagen. This makes the skin firmer and wrinkles are filled from within. The collagen produced remains in the skin for a long time before it is broken down again by the body's natural process. To maintain the results of the treatment, maintenance treatment is applied 3 to 4 times a year.
When most people think of collagen or collagen loss, they immediately think of lines and wrinkles, but did you know that scars and enlarged pores are also a sign of broken (grainy) collagen. You can also tackle these problems directly with microneedling and this can occur at a younger age, for example the scars that can arise from acne.
The treatment also focuses on reducing sun damage, melasma or age pigment. It regulates melanocytes and helps break down melanin clusters (pigment spots). Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which can occur after pimples, can also become less visible with Microneedling.
Microneedling can also be used on the body. This can be used for, among other things, stretch marks, orange peel skin (skin tightening) or scars on the body.
On average, 3-5 treatments are needed to see skin improvement when there is sagging skin, scars, impurities, pigmentation damage, and large pores.
